FREE SPEED CORE STRENGTH & FLEXIBILITY WORKSHOP

NSW Sport & Rec workshop offers the opportunity for coaches to learn more about how speed training, core strength and flexibility can help athletes to compete.

This workshop covers: the biomechanics of running fast and skills technique; associated training techniques to optimise speed; exercises to enhance performance and core strength and how these benefit in training sessions.

HOLIDAY ACADEMY PROGRAM 2008/9

I would like to invite your children to the Highlands Soccer Association Academy Program 2008/2009 to be held in conjunction with Southern NSW Coaching and Development.

The Academy Program is designed for players aged 7-12 and provides safe and challenging soccer practices in a structured learning environment given by quality coaching staff.

The Academy runs over a 10-week period during the off-season (refer to attached brochure for scheduled dates).

The costing of the Academy Program is $95, which includes all coaching and programs, a training shirt, a soccer ball. All children will receive a certificate of attendance.

UPCOMING ADVANCED COACHING COURSES - 2008

This residential course held at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. FFA Advanced Coaching Courses are approved by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and are equivalent to UEFA Coaching Licences.

The Highlands Soccer Association welcomes all interested parents, teachers, club members and older players to undertake accredited coaching courses to assist in the development of soccer at our club and regional levels.

Courses (minimum 12 people; weekends, week nights, or a combination of both) are held from time to time here or in the Southern NSW region.

Those interested in attending, or arranging upcoming courses should contact the Association in the first instance.

At other times courses are held regularly at Soccer NSW at Parklea.

Information about courses and how to become a coach are detailed below:

HIGHLANDS SOCCER ASSOCIATION INC. - SOCCER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Highlands Soccer Association is pleased to announce it has secured the services of Nick D'Amore as its full time Coaching Coordinator. Nick holds a BA in Sports Management, Diploma in Sports Phsychology, UEFA 'B' and State Soccer Coaching Licence. He also has a mass of experience from all over the world, including various internationally recognised coaching systems & methods and with all levels of players.

In Australia last year, Nick was the Coaching Director for Blacktown Soccer Association. Nick resides locally and loves the world game. It made sense to the HSA to secure the services of Nick for the benifit of local players.

Through Nick, the Highlands Soccer Association is offering to all Highlands area schools the opportunity to participate in the exciting new HSA Soccer School Program. All program sessions can be conducted either during school activity time or after school.

All players from all levels will enjoy learning and developing skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting and speed with and without the ball.

A typical programs would run for six weeks. However, the session programs will be designed to suit the school needs. All such school programs offered by Highlands Soccer Association will be directed by our Coaching Coordinator, Nick D'Amore.

FOOTBALL NSW - BECOMING A COACH

There's a world of opportunity for you as a coach, whether you're interested in coaching the local junior team, a NSW Premier League team or a national league team or a State team.

All State and Territory Federations, in conjunction with Soccer Australia, provide a national coach education program which provides a consistent and nationally recognised accreditation structure. The Football NSW provides a range of services and programs for coaches of all levels with the aim of increasing the number, quality and profile of soccer coaches across New South Wales. Coaches or prospective coaches have the opportunity to gain appropriate knowledge and coaching skills to suit their level of development and need.

The 6 levels of license available are:

Grassroots Coaching Course
A non-accredited course most suitable for teachers and interested parents
Around 3 hours

Junior Licence
Suitable for beginner coaches, team managers, teachers and prospective coaches of junior teams

Accreditation: Australian Soccer Association Junior Licence

Youth Licence
Suitable for coaches or prospective coaches up to senior competition level

Accreditation: Australian Soccer Association Youth Licence
Minimum requirement to coach within the Youth League

Senior Licence (Part A)
Suitable for coaches or prospective coaches of amateur youth and senior competitions levels
